Hi all,

Very welcome to episode 10 of the Ireland Chapter of PMI Podcast.

At the start of the year, we had hoped to do one per month starting in February and we have almost done that.

The numbers of listeners, month on month, have been on the rise, with more subscribers every month which is great. We’ve interviewed some great PM professionals and experts during the year…including the founder of the PMI James Snyder, the current President & CEO Mark Langley, a number of our committee members, and others from across the globe that are part of PMI chapters.

For me, it’s been an amazing opportunity and experience to get to talk PM with so many people….the common themes of career development, networking, trying out new things, and of course PDUs all come up….but giving back something to the profession is huge and very rewarding.

I was lucky enough to present at the Region 8 chapter event in Belgrade in November sharing a HOW TO guide on podcasting for your chapter. If we didn’t start this off, that would never have happened.

Before I introduce our guest for this months, just to say thank you for listening in over the year, for your input, feedback, ideas….all have been taken on board. We’re starting to plan for 2019 already….with more show, interviews, and more.

2019 is another huge year for the chapter with the National conference in Cork and then the PMI congress and LIM in Dublin in May.

If you’re interested in even helping out on the Podcast next year, have ideas for guests, how we could market it better or anything at all, you can connect in with me – just drop me a mail on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

So our guest this month’s episode had an interview with Brantlee Underhill.

Brantlee Underhill is the Director of Global chapters for PMI.

Brantlee talks about her 20 year journey with the PMI and the huge change that has happened during this time.

She shares insights on:

  • Growth of PMI over the 20 years from 30k to 500k members
  • PMI 2.0 Strategy Transformation
  • Customer Centricity & Thinking Differently
  • Strategic Focus!
  • 2019 and the 50th Anniversary of PMI
  • Activities and Events for the coming year
  • Focusing on the PM Pro & the Next Gen PM
  • How to be digitally relevant in the new world
  • Focusing on outreach efforts to Colleges and Universities
  • PM Edge web based learning tool online
  • Brantlee and Project Management – How she got involved in this area
  • Brantlee and Podcast interests personally

Enjoy the interview & have a great Christmas & New Year. Back in early 2019

Have a great day,

Rob

Welcome to the Ireland Chapter of the PMI Podcast. Episode 8.

Pat Lucey talks to Rob O’Donohue, who is the Communications Director of the Ireland Chapter of PMI.

During the interview, Pat talks to Rob about his early career and how he moved into to Project Management. He talks to him about the idea behind the podcast, how Rob’s own personal podcast, called 1% Better, has grown and asks him to share some of his learnings from that. Finally, Pat asks Rob about areas that he’s improved in over the last couple of years, and the value he’s gained from being an active volunteer and member of the Ireland Chapter of the PMI.

It’s well worth a listen.

Hope you enjoy.

Welcome to the Ireland Chapter of the PMI Podcast. Episode 6.

In this episode, I talk with Chapter leaders from across EMEA and the World from recordings taken at the Leadership Institute Meeting (LIM) in Berlin in May just gone.

Hear from one of the PMI founders, James Snyder, and from the current PMI President and CEO Mark Langley, as well as Chapter Presidents from a number of countries.

The topics discussed include the value of being a member of a PMI Chapter, learnings from the LIM and future plans for the PMI.

This is part 1 of 2 with some further content coming next month.

This was my first LIM and it really was one of the best conferences I've ever attended. It brought home the spirit of what the PMI is all about and I can't wait to attend in Dublin in 2019.

Hope you enjoy.

Hi all,

Welcome to Episode 3 of the Ireland Chapter of the PMI Podcast. If it’s your first time here, thanks for tuning in. Go back and listen to episode one and two of course. If you’re returning, welcome back! I’m Rob O’Donohue and am the director for Member Communications for the Ireland Chapter.

So this is a Big month for the Ireland Chapter as we have our national conference in the Aviva. It’s the BIGGEST Annual Project Management Conference in Ireland and it’s on for the full day of Thursday 26th April.  The Theme is ‘The Change Makers’ where we discuss managing, driving and achieving change!

Notable speakers include Dr Norah Patten, who is on course to become Ireland’s first ever astronaut. She will discuss her involvement in the scientist-astronaut training programme run by NASA and the project skills that have proven so critical to the success of space missions.

Gerald Fleming, chair of the Public Weather Services Programme at the World Meteorological Organization, and former head of forecasting at Met Éireann, will also speak at the conference. He will explore the changes made by the Irish Meteorological Service that help us to navigate extreme weather events, such as Storm Ophelia in October 2017.

Anton Savage, noted broadcaster and MD of The Communications Clinic, will MC the event, and deliver a masterclass on how business leaders can communicate more effectively. He will also chair a discussion with a panel of the 2017 National Project Award winners on overcoming resistance to change to deliver projects successfully.

We still have a small number of tickets left. There is a special rate for groups over +5 depending on availability, a Student rate and the full rate. You can register on the PMI-Ireland.org site – link is in the show notes for this episode. So check it out & I look forward to seeing you there. I’ll be recording a podcast on the day so do say hello and be ready to answer the project management question of the day that I'll be asking!

If you enjoy the show, be sure to like, review, rate, share, tweet, post, and even talk about it to others.

Also, I’m eager to interview you, the PMI Chapter Members, about your own Project Management careers. Get in touch!

So, this month, I talk with Jackie Glynn, the PMI Vice President of the Chapter. Jackie has been a member of the Chapter since the late 1990's. We chat about her career in project management and how her involvement in the Ireland chapter has been of value. Lots more covered in the ten-minute Q&A. I hope you enjoy it!

I hope you enjoyed the show.

Best,

Rob
